Luxury Hotels in Belfast

Europa Hotel Belfast

Holding the dubious honour or being the most bombed hotel in Europe, the Europa mightn’t seem like the most obvious choice for visitors. In fact, the best place to see and feel the history of Belfast is right here in the hotel. Belfast is a city with a tough past, but the resilience and drive to move forward is perfectly represented by the Europa, which has just had a complete renovation and is almost a symbol of the city at this stage. Aside from the history, this Belfast hotel is as central as you’ll get. Right beside the bus and train station, it’s the perfect place to explore this storied city from. In the past it played host to journalists covering the stories of the Troubles, but more recently it has housed Bill Clinton, Julia Roberts and Bob Dylan. Book here to join this illustrious crew!

The Merchant Hotel Belfast

If you want to feel like pure royalty, you’ll want to check into The Merchant Hotel. High ceilings, plush furniture and extravagant colour schemes make this hotel a simply once in a lifetime experience. It is right in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter and is a great way to explore the Belfast nightlife. That said, leaving the building is difficult, with the restaurant, bar and spa all calling your name. This is one of the most popular luxury hotels in Belfast, so do check availability before your trip!

Titanic Hotel Belfast

Belfast was a crucially important city in history as one of the largest shipbuilding ports in the world. For a city that was famous for building ships, it must sting a little that they’re most remembered for one that sank. The shipbuilding industry went into decline, and with it, the docks area of Belfast. However, the area is now an up and coming area focused around the Titanic Visitor Centre. As you’d expect, the Titanic Hotel Belfast is right beside the visitor centre, and it’s a great place to base yourself in the city to be a little away from the city centre. That said, Belfast really is a small city, so walking to the city centre is possible!  Again, with the popularity of the visitor centre, booking in advance is advised.

Galgorm Resort

If you want to really get out of the city and into slip into a world of comfort, you need to get out to the Galgorm. It’s only about 40 minutes outside the city, but it really feels like you’re in another world. The spa complex is amazing here, with indoor and outdoor areas, and you can even rent a private outdoor hot tub for a romantic evening. Also, they have a Gin Library. You read that correctly. A. Gin. Library. Why are you still reading this? Go book it now.

Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast

How many hotels do you know that can claim a “0-minute walk” from the Opera house? If you’re coming to Belfast to soak up some high culture, this is the hotel for you. It’s right on Great Victoria Street, so you’ll be right in the middle of the action. The Hotel is close to the train station, but also offer Valet parking for those who are driving. Maybe one of my favourite things in this hotel is the cocktail bar. You’ll never want to drink out of a normal glass again once you drink out of their real crystal glass! Also their Afternoon Tea is divine!  Again, if you are planning to visit, it is advisable to book in advance to make sure you get the room you want!

The Culloden Estate and Spa

Here’s another hotel outside Belfast, but it is only a 10-minute drive out of the city and it’s well worth it. You’ll genuinely feel like you’ve taken a step back in time but in a good way. Walking the grounds, you’d be forgiven for looking for Mr Darcy or the Bennett sisters taking in the beautiful estate gardens. However, once you go inside you have the luxury of a stunning indoor pool and spa. This beautiful retreat can be booked here. This really would be an amazing romantic surprise for a couple if you’re looking to make your trip to Belfast just a little more special.
